Please use this document to figure out how much material your install will require. To do this you will need a long tape measure and some marking stakes.

You can find install instructions here.

In the below blue print, you will see this job will require 48' ft along the back and sides. Measuring out from the house, the front of the fence is 15'ft  from each side.

The standard fence section is 6' ft long. When figuring out how many section you will need, just divide your measurement by 6. In this case we will need 8 sections along the back and  and 8 section along the right side. 48'ft / 6 = 8 section

As you will notice the left side has double gate. A double gate is two gates mounted side by side forming a large opening. (for bringing in large lawn mowers) This example calls for two 3' ft gates, together measuring a 6' wide opening. We will subtract the gate width from our left side measurement of 48' ft.  48' ft - 6'ft of gates = 42'ft of fence sections required on the left side. This would come out to 7 sections.

The front of the fence measures 15'ft from each side of the house. Since fence sections only comes in 6ft widths. You will have to cut at least one section to get your desired length on the smaller section.

  • On the left side starting at the corner, we have one full 6'ft section, plus one 4'ft gate, and one section cut to 5'ft.   6'ft section + 4' gate + 5'ft cut section = 15'ft
  • On the right side starting from the corner we have two full 6'ft sections and one cut 3'ft section.
    6"ft section + 6ft section + 3' cut section = 15'ft

We recommend buying one complete section for each section you cut.

There are 4 types of posts.

  • End Posts: These are used at the end of the fence. You will notice the fence stops at the house, here we will use a end post on each side.

  • Corner Posts: These are used when the fence comes to a 90 degree angle. In this job we have four corners which requires four corner posts.

  • Gate Posts: Each single gate requires two gate posts. A double gate made up of two gates only requires two gate posts. See Examples Below. Gate posts are made to support the weight of a gate. Never use end posts for gate posts.

  • Line Posts: These posts are used to attach each section together forming a straight line.

Next we will determine how many posts you will need.

The back of the fence requires 8 sections and is connected to each side by 2 corner posts. To figure out how many line posts you will need, just subtract 1 from the number of sections. In this case we will need 7 Line Posts and 2 Corner Posts.

On the right side, We have 8 sections which means we will need 7 line posts. We will also need one corner post for the right front corner.

On the left side, We have 7 sections plus two gates forming a double gate. So we will need two gate posts, 6 line posts, and one corner post for the left front corner

On the front left side, we have 2 section and one gate. We can not use the (Number of Section) - (1) = (Line Posts) formula because there is no point on the front left side where two sections connect to each other forming a straight line. In the above blue print, we will need 2 gate posts for the gate and one end posts where the fence stops at the house.

On the front right side,we have 3 sections. Here we can use the (Number of Section) - (1) = (Line Posts) formula. So we have 3 sections which means we need 2 line posts. We will also need one end post where the fence stops on the right side of the house.

For the above example Job you would order:
28 6'ft Sections
2 3'ft Gates
1 4'ft Gate
21 Line Posts
4 Corner Posts
4 Gate Posts
2 End Posts

Things to Remember
All Posts come with standard post caps. They can be upgraded to Ball Caps.
All Gates come with a set of hinges and a latch. If this is a pool fence, the latch should be upgraded to a magnetic one for safety reasons.
Double Gates only require one latch, a drop rod for the second gate will be included.
